Youngest Sarpanch in Jammu and Kashmir

Faisal Iqbal , son of Late Mr Mohammad Iqbal is a true youth icon among locals of Dardkot and Uri. Despite being 24 yr old, he has already been elected
uncontested as Sarpanch of Dardkot village which has a population of 3300 which includes approximately 600 families. As on date, Mr Faisal Iqbal is the youngest Sarpanch in the entire Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Apart from discharging his duties as Sarpanch, he is also a civil contractor. Having been brought up in a family with limited means in a remote area like Dardkot, Faisal is a shining star among youth in Kashmir valley. He not only takes keen interest in education but is also very active in socio-economic development of villages in coordination with Indian Army, police as well as civil administration.


Through his dedication, perseverance and sheer hard work, Faisal has not only
earned the respect of his community but is also emerging as a national youth leader. Faisal has been very vocal in his efforts to spread the significance of education and self reliance.
